Frozen Cauliflower Cheese

One of my favourite foods to air fry is frozen cauliflower. Over the last couple of months, we have shown you how to cook frozen cauliflower in air fryer, how to use the same type of frozen cauliflower to make an air fryer cauliflower cheese, but what we havenโ€™t shown you is how to cook from frozen a full bag of already prepared and cooked frozen cauliflower cheese.

Just like you probably are now, I was curious to what frozen cauliflower cheese bags would be like, how well they would air fry, and if it would in fact be much quicker in the oven compared to the air fryer.

I was in Aldi and spotted these great big bags of frozen cauliflower cheese and bought a few bags so that I could test them out in the air fryer and see if they were any good.

And you know what? We loved them and were amazed by how good frozen cauliflower cheese is in the air fryer.

Yes, you can cook cauliflower cheese from frozen. Frozen cauliflower cheese is amazing for reheating. I often make ahead extra cauliflower cheese when I am making some and then the leftovers can go in the freezer and be cooked from frozen.

Can You Cook Frozen Cauliflower Cheese In Air Fryer?

Yes, you can air fry frozen cauliflower cheese and you will love it. I much prefer the frozen cauliflower cheese in the bag vs the cauliflower cheese in a frozen container, because from a bag it cooks faster and easier.

Can You Buy Frozen Cauliflower Cheese?

Yes, you can buy frozen cauliflower cheese and it is really good for the air fryer. Many brands are realising we love frozen cauliflower cheese, so there is a lot of great choice.

For example, you can cook M&S frozen cauliflower cheese, Tesco frozen cauliflower cheese, or like we are using today Aldi frozen cauliflower cheese.

Cauliflower Cheese โ€“ We used one bag of frozen cauliflower cheese in the air fryer. I donโ€™t recommend more than one bag, as otherwise it wont all fit and it will take too long to air fry.

Cheese โ€“ I also added extra cheese to the frozen cauliflower cheese. You could skip this step, but is there ever a time when you add too much cheese?

  • Dump. Letโ€™s start with dumping your frozen cauliflower cheese into an air fryer container. Air fry for 25 minutes at 160c/320f or until starting to golden on top and the cauliflower is fully heated through.
  • Cheese. Then finish with some extra cheese over the cauliflower cheese and cook for a further 3 minutes to melt the cheese.
  • Serve. Your cauliflower cheese is now ready for serving.

How Long To Cook Frozen Cauliflower Cheese In Air Fryer?

We recommend 25 minutes to cook your cauliflower cheese from frozen in the air fryer. Plus, another 3 minutes if you wanted to add some grated cheese on the top to further melt on top.

Reheat Cauliflower Cheese In Air Fryer

If you are just wanting to reheat cauliflower cheese in the air fryer from leftovers in the fridge, we would recommend reducing the cook time to 8 minutes and then checking to see if it needs any longer.

Why is my cauliflower cheese always watery? โ€บ

Cauliflower cheese can go watery if the cauliflower is overcooked. Overcooked cauliflower releases water, which will seep into the rest of the dish. So even if your sauce was thick when it went in the oven, if its in there too long, the water from the cauliflower will cause it to go watery.

How do you cook Aldi frozen cauliflower cheese? โ€บ

Cook from frozen. Remove all packaging. OVEN: Place contents in an ovenproof dish and bake on the middle shelf of a preheated oven (Electric 200ยฐC/Fan 180ยฐC/Gas 6) for 40-45 minutes. Ensure product is thoroughly cooked and piping hot throughout.

When prepping frozen veggies, make sure to fully cover each piece in a thin layer of oil, like extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) or coconut oil. The fat will help your cauliflower or corn crisp up evenly on the outside while keeping its interior tender. Simply hand-toss them in a bowl with oil to evenly coat them.

How do you keep frozen cauliflower from getting soggy? โ€บ

Frozen vegetables can be a little more prone to getting mushy when roasted compared to fresh ones. However, you can easily prevent this from happening by not overcrowding the pan. Make sure the cauliflower is spread out in a single layer and that there is space in between the florets. Use 2 baking sheets if needed.

What will adding lemon juice to the water for cooking cauliflower do? โ€บ

Cauliflower should be cooked quartered, or cut into florets at the base of the stem. In kitchen lore, lemon juice, milk, flour and vinegar have all been recommended as additions to cauliflower cooking water, presumably to keep it white.

Ideally, we should all eat food straight after it has been cooked. This is when it's at its freshest and likely to taste the best. In terms of food safety, however, so long as you reheat the food at the correct temperature and for the correct duration of time, it can in fact be safely reheated multiple times.

Why is my roasted cauliflower mushy? โ€บ

First, take care not to overcrowd your pan; if the cauliflower is packed in rim-to-rim, the moisture will not be able to escape as the florets cook, which will result in soft steamed cauliflower instead of roasted. Next, don't be overly generous with the oil โ€” a light coating is what we're after here.

Do you have to defrost cauliflower before cooking? โ€บ

There's no need to defrost frozen cauliflower before cooking. In fact, it's best to cooking it from frozen. They can be added straight into dishes being cooked, like stews, casseroles and oven bakes, or throw in for the last few minutes with pasta being cooked in boiling water.

What temperature do you reheat cauliflower cheese? โ€บ

It will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days. To reheat, place in an oven-proof dish in an oven set to 220C (200C fan / gas mark 7 / 425F) for 15 minutes or until piping hot all the way through. (You may wish to cover the dish with foil for the first 10 minutes to prevent the cauliflower cheese from drying out too much.)

Before cooking: Transfer half a pack (340g) of cauliflower cheese into a microwaveable dish and cover. During cooking: Stir halfway through. Re-cover and continue cooking. After cooking: Stir thoroughly.
